Levi and Piper

by Amy Rhodes

I always get excited before any photo shoot.  I have a process of thinking about the people I am going to photograph and picturing in my mind how that session is going to go.  I was especially excited for my session with Levi and Piper because their mom and I had been planning it practically the whole summer.  Candice and I have known each other for a long time, but this summer our kids had a LEGO class they took together.  We would spend a portion of time each Thursday brainstorming fun ideas for pictures.  She loves to come up with the ideas and I love to shoot them.

The morning of the shoot we thought we were going to have to reschedule. Dark, heavy clouds gathered around the mountains and it was obvious it was raining.  We kept texting each other all morning every time weather.com would update the weather outlook.  We knew the chances of the rain not stopping were there, but neither of us wanted to pull the plug.  We were going to take our chances.

I am so glad we did.  As we were driving up the mountain the clouds started to break apart and gave way to a beautiful sky.  The light was BEAUTIFUL.  We parked at my favorite location on the mountain and I was in heaven.  We immediately started setting up and shooting.  i didn't want to take my chances on missing out on some of the most wonderful light I have ever been able to photograph with.

Thanks for an awesome afternoon, Candice.  Your kids are so much fun and such great subjects!  I can't wait to hear your next idea!
